Eight hundred and fifty troops of Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai have been awarded with Operation Lake Sanity medal.
At a ceremony at headquarters Seven Division Nigerian Army, Force Commander Multinational Joint Taskforce MNJTF Major General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim said the award was given to deserving personnel.
The Force Commander explained that the Taskforce had Joint Operation with Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai and forces from Cameroon republic on the fringes of the Lake Chad clearing several enclaves of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.
According to him, the major clearance operation has now translated to less attacks on military and soft targets in the region.
Major General Abdul Khalifa announced that MNJTF will soon launch another operation to further degrade the capabilities of the terrorist.
He said in the last one year, over one hundred thousand people have returned to their communities in the Lake Chad area.
The Force Commander expressed commitment to ending terrorism and insurgency in the region.
