Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says there will be no further extension of the Continuous Voter Registration after the 31st of this month.

The National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC, Mr Festus Okoye, stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria.

Mr Okoye said any further extension would adversely affect other scheduled activities of the commission.

Mr Okoye said the exercise, which began in June last year, was originally scheduled to end on the 30th of June this year but had to be extended by one month.

He, therefore, felt that sufficient time was given for the exercise.

The National Commissioner also reiterated that Continuous Voter Registration was not for everybody, but for those that had not registered before, or who just attained the age of 18.

The INEC spokesman said the commission had increased the number of machines for the exercise, the registration centres and even the registration hours.

He, therefore, urged those yet to register to take advantage of the few remaining days.
