Kwara State Government has alleged a grand plot by members of some opposition to launch a coordinated campaign of calumny against Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other top government officials.

Addressing newsmen at the NUJ press Center in Ilorin, Special Adviser to Governor AbdulRazq on Political Communication, Alhaji Bashir Adigun, accused some politicians of desperate attempts to smear the image of the Governor using falsehoods of various kinds.

According to him, doctored documents, unverified claims, fake videos and other disinformation were being circulated to mislead the public.

Alhaji Adigun alleged that some elements were trying to rehash the long dismissed tale of N300million naira local government funds purportedly missing.

He noted that as a government that cared about accountability, it had set up a probe panel which thoroughly investigated the matter, adding that the finding was that there was no diversion of funds from local government.

Alhaji Adigun urged the media to fact check each statement issued by the opposition to avoid being mislead.

He also appealed to the residents of the state to be wary of any statement or contents from desperate elements in the interest of peace and development of the state.
