Eid Prayers Observed Peacefully In Maiduguri

Eid prayers was observed peacefully amidst restriction of vehicular movement in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Thousands of muslim faithful converged on various eid grounds in the metropolis to observe the two unit prayers.

At the Ramat Square eid ground, the Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Mamman Saleh in his sermon shortly after the prayers, enjoined muslims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Abraham.

He encouraged well spirited individuals and philanthropists to spend in charity and share with vulnerable people especially the IDPs during the festive period to give them a sense of belonging.

Imam Shettima Mamman praised God Almighty for witnessing another eid and called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another.

He offered special prayers for peace to reign in the state and the entire country.

The Imam prayed for sustainable peace in the state and the entire country and also for successful 2023 General elections.

The Imam Idaini then slaughtered his ram signifying that other muslim faithful can perform the sacrificial act.

The eid prayer had in attendance Speaker of the state Assembly, Honourable Abdulkarim Lawan, former governors Senator Kashim Shettima and Senator Ali Sheriff, members of national and state Assemblies, Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi among other dignitaries.

Similarly, as part of activities to mark the eid-el-adha celebration, a durbar has been stage at Shehu’s Palace, where the Shehu and other traditional title holders rode on horseback to the admiration of many dignitaries in attendance.
