National Population Commission says it will engage 13,500 adhoc field officers in the on going trial census exercise nationwide in preparation for the main head count next year.

The Kano state federal commissioner of the commission, Dr Ismail Lawan Suleiman made this known while speaking to newsmen in Dutse.

He said the field officers comprised of enumerators, supervisors and facilitators who would conduct the exercise which would sum as a rehearsal of making the 2023 population and housing census credible, reliable and acceptable.

Dr Ismail Lawan explained that the trial census would be carried out professionally and scientifically to provide good foundation for the smooth and hitch free conduct of the actual head count next year.

He said local government selected in Jigawa state for the trial census include, Hadejia , Birniwa and Mallam Madori in Jigawa North East, Maigatari, kazaure and Babura in Jigawa north west and Dutse, Miga, Birnin Kudu in Jigawa central senatorial zones.

It could be recalled that, activities for the trial census began on the 27th June, 2022 and expected to end on the 13th July 2022.
