Kano state fire service has confirmed the death of a four year old girl, Amina Abdullahi Garba, after drowning in a well at Kofar Waika opposite Masallacin Karmawi, Ungoggo local government area.

The public relations officer of the agency,Saminu Yusif Abdullahi explained that, kofar Nasarawa fire service received a distress call at 2:05 pm, from Alkasim Ibrahim.

He maintained that on arrival, the rescue team discovered that a four year old girl had accidentally fell into a well.

“Our formation received an emergency call at 14:05 from Alkasim Ibrahim”

Saminu Yusif pointed out that the team immediately swang into action and succeeded in retrieving the body of the young girl unconscious and later confirmed dead by health officials.

He said,the remains of Amina has been handed over to the ward head of kofar Waika,Alhaji Isma’ila Yusuf.

“Victim rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead,her remain has been handed over to ward head of Kofar Waika,Alhaji Isma’ila Yusuf”.

It would be recalled that in the month of January 2022, a three year old boy Aliyu Lawan lost his life after drowning in a well at Dambatta local government area.

Similarly, another four year old boy Mustapha Dalhatu was also reported dead at Kofar Dawanau.

Meanwhile, last year the Kano state fire had decried over rising cases of deaths due to drowning and local swimming including a one day old baby who was found dead in a well at Tsalle village in Gezawa local government area of the state.

The public relations officer of Kano state fire service charged parents and guardians to be more vigilant and report cases of drowning,road accident,fire disaster,collapsed buildings among others to the nearest fire service office.
