The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad has admonished Magistrates and Judges of lower courts in the country to shun gratification and all forms of inducement in the discharge of their duties.

Justice Muhammad stated this while declaring open the 2022 induction course for newly appointed Magistrates and Judges of the lower courts at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja.

“I urge you all to decisively shun every vice which will bring the Judiciary into disrepute. Practices such as lateness to court, accepting any form of gratification or other form of inducement must not be associated with you as Magistrates”. Justice Muhammad stated.

Administrator of National Judicial Institute, Rtd Justice Salisu Abdullahi reminded the participants on the crucial role they were expected to play in the society and the need to balance conflicting interests in ensuring a stable polity.

The theme of the Induction Course is Nurturing High Standards of Judicial Performance.
