We Have Established Awareness On COVID-19 Vaccine Project – CITAD

Nigerians have been advised to shun fake news, misinformation and false narratives on COVID-19 vaccine to curtail the spread of the deadly infection.

The project manager, public education in COVID-19 vaccine project, center for information technology and development (CITAD), Hamza Ibrahim made the call while presenting gifts to winners of COVID-19 vaccine champions, held in Kano.

According to him, CITAD in collaboration with MacArthur foundation, had established a public education on COVID-19 vaccine project, to sensitize the public on the importance of taking the vaccine.

Hamza Ibrahim explained that, 18 partner organizations and social media influencers, are part of the team educating the public through various programs and activities.

The project manager said,18 covid 19 vaccine champions were trained on identifying, tracking and countering COVID 19 related fake news, in kano, Bauchi, Borno, Kaduna and nd plateau states.

He Maintained that, those trained embark on daily campaigns through the social media, and winners are selected every month by a panel of judges.

Presenting the items,the executive director CITAD, Dr. Yunusa Zakari Ya’u, said the public education on COVID-19 vaccine project had made great impact on the six selected states.

Dr. Zakari, who was represented by CITAD community networks coordinator, Malam Haruna Adamu, commended the covid 19 champions. He reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to work asidiously in ensuring that corona virus becomes history.

Radio Nigeria reports that, Hadiza Aliyu from Kano state emerged the overall winner, while Ashraf Abdulqadir from Kaduna and Hauwa Shettima from Bauchi state won second and third positions.
