Dr. Dikko Umar Radda has emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Katsina State in a closely contested primary election held at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

With 506 votes, Dr. Radda defeated the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustafa Inuwa who got 442 votes and a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, Abbas Masanawa who polled 436 votes.

Declaring the results of the primaries, chairman of the organizing committee for the election, Alhaji Kaka Shehu said nine aspirants participated in the primary election which had a total number of 1,805 votes cast out of which 18 were invalid.

Similarly, Senator Yakubu Lado of the People Democratic Party has defeated three other contestants to emerge winner of the party’s guber primaries held at the PDP Secretariat in Katsina.

The former senator polled 740 votes, followed by the runner-up, Salisu Majigiri who polled 247 votes.

Ahmed Yaradua polled 53 votes while Shehu Inuwa-Imam got 44 votes.

The two parties have also held primary elections for the 34 seats of the State House of Assembly with plans to hold the Senate and federal House of Representatives seats on friday.
