Written by Basirat Memudu

The Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria-TCN, Alhaji Sule Abdulazeez says the ongoing construction of 330KVA transmission lines from kukandan to Mando power station will be completed before the end of this year.

He stated this while speaking with newsmen shortly after inspecting the construction line and Kudendan 215 megawatt power station in Kaduna.

The project which had reached 80 percent completion level according to Alhaji Abdulazeez was being stalled by some community members who are rejecting compensation for land where the towers are sighted.

“The 330KVA transmission lines from kukandan to Mando when completed will be linked with the 33KVA Mando power station which will served Kaduna, kebbi, Sokoto, zamfara states in the Northwest.

“In addition to that also, we have the Gurara station that is generating 30 megawatts. That project is been completed long time ago and the Minister of Water Resources is writing to the Minister of power to make sure that we finish this one here”.

Alhaji Abdul’azeez noted that, one of the reason the project was not completed is because of land issues.

“The honorable minister directed me to come here to talk to the contractor and find a solution to the problems we have with land owners”.

According to him, TCN rules and regulations only compensate properties and crops, maintaining that, all lands belongs to government.

He added that, TCN is also talking to Kaduna state government to find a way of resolving the land issues affecting progress of the project.
