The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Alhaji Jaji Abdulganiyu has appealed to Nigerians to be safety conscious during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

In a statement by the service Public Relations Officer, ACF Abraham Paul, the CGF congratulated the Muslim faithful on the occasion marking the successful completion of fasting in the month of Ramadan and prayed to Allah to accept the supplications made during the holy month.

While acknowledging that the Eid-el-Fitr celebration is a period of a series of fire-related activities such as cooking, it appeals to Muslims and indeed Nigerians to put in place safety measures such as the provision of fire extinguishers, fire blankets, smoke detectors in their homes and ensure electrical appliances are switched off when leaving home to prevent fire incidences.

According to the statement, the Controller General has directed all Federal Fire Service Commands to be on red alert and assures Nigerians that the Service is ready to respond to emergency calls during this period of festivities.

It further encourages Nigerians to call the Service emergency numbers 112 and 08032003557 immediately they notice any sign of fire.
