Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Monday the second of May 2022 as the first day of Shawwal 1443 after Hijira.

This was made known in a statement signed by the chairman Advisory Committee on religious affairs Sultanate council Sokoto, professor Sambo Wali Junaidu in conjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee.

The declaration followed a report from the various Moon Sighting Committee across the country confirming the non Sighting of the cresent of Shawwal 1443 after Hijira on Saturday the twenty ninth of Ramadan equivalent to the thirtieth of April 2022

The statement explaining that tomorrow would be the thirtieth of Ramadan and Monday would be the first day of Shawwal
