Former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari has distributed 47 trucks of assorted grains to 16,800 Internally Displaced Persons ,IDPs households across the state.

The Monitoring Committee Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Jelani disclosed this to newsmen in Gusau while flagging off the distribution exercise.

He said the items comprised 14 trucks of Maize,14 trucks of Rice, 14 trucks of Millet and five trucks of sugar making total of number of 47 trucks of assorted items.

The former Governor had earlier announced donation of 47 trucks of assorted grains to the IDPs across the state as Ramadan welfare package.

Alhaji Aminu Jelani said, the items were handed over to state based NGO popularly known as “Zamfara Circle” to ensure judicious distribution of the gesture to the IDPs across the state.

According to him, the former Governor had also set up a 16-man committee headed by Malam Aminu Jelani to monitor the distribution exercise in all nooks and crannies of the state

Jelani further explain that, Yari has donated 172 trucks of food items to the people of the state as Ramadan welfare, the 47 trucks is the share allocated to IDPs through Zamfara Circle, therefore only IDPs would benefits from the gesture.

On his part, Chairman Zamfara Circle, Dr Al-amin Tsafe commended the former Governor for the gesture and described it as timely

Dr Tsafe noted that justice and fairness were main focus in the distribution of the items to the beneficiaries.

Earlier, the Chairman, Publicity sub Committee of the Monitoring Committee, Alhaji Sha’ayau Mafara said the former Governor involved Zamfara Circle in distributing the items to the IDPs to ensure transparency and accountability in the process.
