Special Report : Government Reaffirms Commitment To Eradicating Insecurity

Scholars define security as the state of being free from danger or threat.

It can also be seen as a state of feeling safe,stable and free from fear or anxiety.

Some are of the view that security are measures taken to guard individuals or state aginst espionage or sabotage, crime, attack, or escape.

Research indicates that insecurity is the state of being open to danger, threat or lack of protection.

Meanwhile, security measures are deployed by governments globally to ensure mutual survival and safety.

These measures include military action and diplomatic agreements such as treaties and conventions.

The content of international security has expanded over the years,now covering a variety of intercontinental issues in the world that affect survival.

Insecurity and terrorism has been a major challenge to the Nigerian government.

Some of these activities include kidnapping,suicide bombing,armed robbery,farmers and herdsmen conflict, political crises among others.

The United Nations said hundreds of people including women and children have been killed and millions have been reduced to deplorable living standards.

Officials said the coronavirus pandemic and rising prices of food have further escalated conditions for millions of vulnerable people.

In Nigeria, federal and state government’s are doing everything within their powers to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on different occasions pledged that his administration was committed to mitigating insecurity in the country.

“Use all available resources and man power in dealing with bandits”

Kano state government had also intensified efforts, aimed at upgrading the security system through collaboration between different security agencies in the state.

Radio Nigeria reports that, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje described the state as one of the most peaceful in the country, due to the synergy between the government and security agencies.

“Let me emphasize that state government’s need to emphasize that state governments need to cooperate and work with security agencies in dealing with insecurity”

Similarly, during the inauguration of the RUGA settlement project , the governor reaffirmed the state government’s s readiness to prosecute anyone found guilty of cattle rustling and other criminal acts capable of disturbing peace and stability in Kano.

Further more, 5,504 constables were trained to support community policing as part of strategies to secure the state according to global standards.

“We have gone further by recruiting police constabulary,who are assisting the security agencies”
