Forty women selected from the 16 local government areas of Kwara state have been trained and presented with working tools at the end of their training in jewelry making and designs.

Speaking at the presentation of competency certificate and work tools to the beneficiaries in Ilorin, wife of the Kwara state governor, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, said that the beneficiaries of the empowerment sponsored by her office have been set on path of self-reliance and financial independence.

She said one of the major challenges confronting Nigeria youths and women is joblessness.

According to her available statistics reveals that Nigeria has a youth population of over 80 million representing over 60 per cent of the total population of the country.

Ambassador Olufolake ,said that new ways must be evolved to ensure that women and Youths are productively engaged.

She explained that skills acquisition is a
veritable tool for eradicating extreme poverty and hunger
with the aim of paving way for employment and creating an
avenue for jobs .

Ambassador Olufolake noted that over 6,000 women and youth have so far been trained through the initiative.

Earlier, in her address of welcome the Executive Director, Ajike People Support Centre, Alhaji Ganiyu Opeloyeru, said that the scheme will look into the possibility of availing the beneficiaries opportunity of regular
financial literacy seminars to further enhance their mastery of business and financial management techniques.
