Federal Government has been urged to grant tax waiver on the importation of agricultural inputs and machines to make food production cheaper in the country.

The Coordinator of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria(RIFAN) Kwara state Chpater, Mallam Ahmed Saba made the call while speaking with Journalists in Ilorin.

According to him, government should take the issue of food production and pricing as a social service that should not be left to market forces to determine.

He called for collaboration between government and other stakeholders in agricultural production to make food available and affordable to the common man.

Mallam Saba advised farmers to be honest in the repayment of various agricultural loans granted them by government to sustain the programme .

He urged them to take their job serious and ensure they contribute their quota to enable the country attain food sufficiency.
