Avoid Anti-social Conducts, Provost FCE Zaria Advises Matriculating Students

Federal College of Education Zaria has revolutionized its system by digitizing the processes and employing modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to create accessibility towards attaining the needs and grievances of staff and students.

The Provost, Dr Suleiman Balarabe stated this during the 2020/2021 session matriculation Ceremony of NCE 1 Part-Time students, at the College premises, in Zaria.

Dr Balarabe said the college was transforming to create a more conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

According to him, despite the financial difficulties households are facing, the management has approved payment of school fees for NCE 1 Part-Time Students in two instalments.

The Provost emphasised that as a reputed teacher training institution, students must be reminded of the need to watch their moral and social behaviours from day one.

He said the purpose of the college was to prepare fully qualified professional teachers who later would help in preparing students not just to pass the examination, but to live respective lives in the community.

Dr Balarabe remarks that matriculation is a ritual of initiating new students into the academic and social life of the college, which also marks the beginning of their preparation for intellectual growth and development.

As the college abhors any form of display of anti-social behaviours, especially as it concerns examination malpractice, indecent dressing and unlawful associations and drug abuse gangs, you should embrace the path of honour both within and outside the college as it enjoys a reputation for producing excellent teachers for the nation.

Ensure 75% attendance as it’s a prerequisite for sitting for an examination and avoid malpractice as well as devoting your time, energy and commitment to studying your books,” he added.

The Provost said the expectation was to see students graduating as teachers versed in the best techniques of the fundamentals of education that would enhance proficiency and knowledge in education delivery to liberate the country from a further slide in the sector.

Radio Nigeria reports that about 2,000 NCE Part-Time students are matriculated for the 2020/2021 academic session.
