Over two hundred armed bandits have been neutralised by the combined team of security agencies and vigilante within the last three days in Niger state.

State Commissioner of Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security Mr Emmanuel Umar stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna on the security situation in parts of the state.

Mr Emmanuel Umar said over one hundred motorcycles have also been recovered during the fierce battle between security agencies and bandits in two local government councils of Rafi and Mariga.

According to him, large number of cattle were intercepted and returned to their original owners and many have been killed in a cross fire.

Mr Emmanuel Umar however expressed sadness that two officers paid the supreme sacrifice during the encounter while some have been injured during the gun duel and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

The Commissioner thanked Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for all the support needed to succeed in fighting insurgency in parts of Niger state.

Mr Emmanuel Umar also applauded traditional rulers and all those who have contributed positively to the success recorded , stressing that Niger state govẹrnment will not waver in its resolve to ensure safety of lives and property of its people.
