Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria has shut down over 50 unregistered diagnostic Medical Centres in Nasarawa State.

Registrar and Chief Executive of the board, Professor Mark Okeji stated this in Lafia while briefing newsmen at the end of a two-day enforcement and inspection visit to the state.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria, Professor Mark Okeji while leading a team of radiographers including security agencies said the visit to Nasarawa State was in continuation of nationwide enforcement and monitoring exercise to get rid of quacks and ensure standard in the practice.

Professor Okeji represented by the Head of Inspection and Monitoring of the board, Mr Ebere Obinna said the team decided to seal the diagnostic medical centres due to non-compliance, sharp practices, and non-registration which according to him, had adverse health implications

At one of the affected diagnostic Centres, Umma Ultrasound Diagnostic Centre, Lafia, the registrar ordered for the immediate arrest of the owner and staff of the facility.

The team which visited Doma and Akwanga Local Government Areas of the state also paid an advocacy visit to the state Commissioner for Health, Mr. Ahmed Baba Yahaya.
