The Kaduna State Government has inaugurated the governing boards of four state agencies, including the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), with a charge to promote efficiency, accountability, integrity and digital transformation in the public sector.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday at the Banquet Hall, Kawo, Kaduna, was presided over by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Mayere, who represented Governor Uba Sani.

Other agencies whose boards were inaugurated are the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority, Kaduna State Quality Assurance Authority, and Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Mayere urged the newly appointed board members to operate strictly within their enabling laws, uphold financial transparency and avoid conflicts of interest.

He also reminded them that their responsibility was to provide strategic policy direction and oversight without interfering in the day-to-day administration of the agencies.

The six-member KSMC board is chaired by veteran journalist and media executive, Mallam El-Said Yakubu Lere, while the state’s Director of Media Relations, Yunusa Mohammed Abdullahi, will represent the Ministry of Information and Culture on the board.

Among the members of the KSMC Board is Binta Saidu, a journalist who was a staff of KSMC, and served another private media organization in many states including Kaduna, Katsina and Kano.

The representation is expected to facilitate alignment between the corporation’s operations and the state’s communication policies.

The government outlined key responsibilities for the KSMC board, including providing strategic policy direction to enhance operational efficiency, upgrading broadcast equipment to strengthen digital content delivery, producing educational and balanced programmes, and ensuring compliance with procurement laws, financial regulations and statutory broadcasting standards.

Responding on behalf of the inaugurated boards, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Quality Assurance Authority Board, Tanko Kokwain Baji, thanked Governor Uba Sani for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their commitment to delivering on their respective mandates.

Baji said the boards would work towards repositioning Kaduna State as a benchmark for excellence, particularly in strengthening educational standards and addressing the challenges confronting out-of-school children.

“We shall do the best we can to deliver on these tasks,” he said, while calling for transparency, unity of purpose and institutional discipline in the discharge of their responsibilities.
