His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar has directed Muslims in the country to start looking for the new crescent of Rajab 1443 after Hijira on Tuesday the first of February, equivalent to 29 of Jumada Assaniy.
This is contained in a statement signed by the chairman Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto state, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu.
The statement adds that if sighted, the information should be forwarded to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan.
