Senator Rochas Okorocha, a representative for Imo west, has announced his intention of running in the 2023 presidential election.

On Wednesday, Senate President Ahmad Lawan read Okorocha’s intent at the Senate chamber.

The former governor of Imo state said he would formally announce his intention on January 31.

A former candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he lost to the late Umaru Yar’Adua in the 2007 primary.

Okorocha is the latest in a long line of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirants, which includes Bola Tinubu, the former Lagos governor, and David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi.

If the APC allocated the ticket to the southeast, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu said he would run.
