Kwara State Government has urged residents of the state to shun open defecation to prevent outbreak of diseases.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Remilekun Banigbe made the call while Speaking with newsmen in Ilorin.

She said the state government had put in place measures to eradicate open defecation

The Commissioner said about eleven (11) modern toilets facilities had been constructed across local governments in the metropolis for the convenience of people.

She explained that the state government had also built modern toilets in public schools to discourage students against open defecation .

Banigbe noted that the ministry was working hand in hand with Physical Planning Authority to ensure toilet facilities were considered in all building plans before approval.
