Kano State Government says it will not relent in it’s efforts of providing free and compulsory education as well as upgrading the standard of education to international standards.

The Kano state Commissioner for education Alhaji Muhammad Sunusi Kiru gave the assurance while declaring open a two days workshop for teachers redeployed to secondary schools by the Kano state government organized by the Academic Staff Union of Secondary schools (ASUSS) held at Rumfa College Kano.

According to the commissioner, Kano state government has redeployed hundreds of civil servants with educational qualifications to schools to further strengthen the educational system.

The commissioner who was represented by his special assistant Dr. Shehu Shu’aibu, said the state government had introduced programs and policies that would go a long way in ensuring the state competes with others globally in terms of education and other developmental projects.

Alhaji Muhammad Sunusi Kiru charged participants to make judicious use of the knowledge gained and called for synergy among stakeholders in education to achieve the desired objectives.

Earlier in his remarks, the Kano state chairman of the Academic staff union of secondary schools (ASUSS) Comrade Abdullahi Usman Yalo commended the state government for initiating the new policy to move education forward.

He explained that,the workshop was organized to enlighten the new teachers on teaching techniques, lesson plan, and other relevant teaching methods.

The chairman pointed out that (ASUSS) was fully committed to training and retraining of teachers and partnering with relevant stakeholders to take secondary education to the promise land.

Some of the participants who spoke to Radio Nigeria described the workshop as timely and promised to put the knowledge gained into practice.

Radio Nigeria recalls that, few months ago the Kano state government redeployed 11,000 civil servants with educational qualifications to schools to further strengthen the educational system.
