Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has declared Monday, Muharram 1, 1443 AH (September 9, 2021) as Work -Free day in the State.

A statement by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba says the holiday is in commemoration of the new Islamic calendar.

It urges workers to use the work-free day to pray to Almighty Allah to deliver the country from the prevailing security challenges.

The statement also congratulates Muslims on the dawn of the new Islamic year, which calls for prayers and sober reflection.

It further calls for support and cooperation of the people for government as it strives to better the country in the face of challenges.
