The Director General of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency Dr Dikko Umar Radda has described Small and Medium sub Sector as a major pillar of economic development in the country.

Dr Dikko Umar Radda stated this during the Opening Ceremony of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Opportunity Fair held in Kano.

He said the aim of the fair was to provide Opportunities for Participating MSMEs to Harvest the huge potentials in the sector.

Dr Dikko Umar Radda explained that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sub Sector Account for over 41 million businesses,and provide over 59 Million employments in Nigeria.

“The fair is a major tool for Promotion, Communication,Marketing,networking and cross fertilization of ideas among MSMEs”.

The Director General noted that the fair will pave way for the Agency to interact one-on-one with MSMEs, acquire business information,make general enquiries and access to free business counselling .

Dr Dikko Umar Radda added that the Agency would Utilize this year’s fair in registering MSMEs under the SMEDAN mass registration program platform, while participating MSMEs will get their products uploaded free on the MarketHub Application.

In a remark, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano applauded federal government Strategies and policies in diversifying the nation’s revenue generation drive from the oil sector to the agricultural and digital Economy.

He said Kano state being the commercial hub center of the sub Saharan Africa,is also an epicenter of Small and Medium Enterprises.

“The impact of Small , medium enterprises is felt in greater utilization of local raw materials , employment Generation , encouragement of rural development , Development of Entrepreneurship,and provision of Opportunity for training managers and Semi Skilled workers.

He added that his administration had provided infrastructures including road networks, interch and Flyovers aimed at ensuring free flow of Traffic and connect businesses in the State.

The fair themed “Key to an Inclusive and Sustainable Post Pandemic Recovery attracted Micro and Medium Entrepreneurs who displayed their product at the exhibition stands at the Sani Abacha indoors Stadium.
