Nigeria has lost over thirty nine billion naira from 2018 to date as a result of tankers auto-crashes across the country.

A Safety and Risk Management Expert, Jamilu Haruna Doguwa stated this during the launching of the Minimum Industry Safety Training for Down Stream Operations MISTDO workshops in Zaria.

Mr. Jamilu Doguwa said stakeholders in the petroleum sector needed more knowledge on safety training to protect citizens’ lives and public property.

He stressed the need for stakeholders to imbibe the culture of seeking for knowledge to update their safety skills so as to face global challenges.

According to the expert, federal government introduced the MISTDO though the Department of Petroleum Resources DPR to reduce the ocourance of fire disearster across the country.

In a message, the DPR Zonal Controller in charge of Kaduna, Alhaji Yusuf Sulaiman said launching of the workshop was one of the strategies adopted by the federal government to educate stakeholders on petroleum safety and also reduce the occourance of fire out break to save the lives of citizens in the country.

The participants include the residents, stakeholders on petroleum sector among others.
