Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi

The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi has charged journalists to focus their reportage on peace building effort in conflict affected areas.

Shehu Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi gave the charged when leadership of Nigeria Union Journalists Borno state Council paid homage on the Royal father at his palace in Maiduguri. 

The Shehu who is also the grand patron of the Union said with the relative peace being enjoyed in the State, there is need for journalists to project the State in good light. 

According to him, the State had past through different crisis from Rabeh invasion, Maitatsine violence and the recent Boko Haram insurgency but the State came out stronger. 

Shehu Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi who observed that the crisis had subjected people of the region to untold hardship appealed for more support to ameliorate their suffering. 

He commended the Federal and Borno State government for their continued assistance to victims of insurgency. 

Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Borno state Council, Comrade Bulama Talba appreciated the fatherly role of the Royal father for maintaining peace in the State.

He assured that memebers of the Union will continue to discharge its duties in accordance with the ethics of the profession.
