A Non-governmental Organization, has carried out a medical outreach to inmates at the Kano Central Custodial Centre, Kurmawa.
Speaking during the outreach programme, founder of the organization , Dr. James King said the foundation had a mandate of providing succour to the less privileged through provision of medical services.
He said this was the second time the foundation was extending such gesture to custodial facility, with the first being in 2017.
Dr James King explained that the target of the medical outreach in the custodial centre would result in over five hundred inmates being examined and treated of various conditions such as anaemia, hypertension, heart diseases, severe malaria and other ailments.
He noted that members of the Foundation include various health professionals who have the passion to render free health services to the less privileged.
While welcoming them to the facility, the Controller of Corrections, Suleiman T. Suleiman who was represented by the officer-in-charge of the custodial centre, ACC Muazu Tukur, appreciated the foundation for the charitable service and urged well-placed individuals in the society to emulate the gesture.
Apart from conducting tests and medical investigation on the beneficiaries, the foundation also donated drugs and provisions to the inmates.
