Community leaders have advocated for the construction of toilet and modern boreholes by state governments to address health challenges caused by open defecation especially in rural areas.

They made the plea at the commissioning and handing over of Project facility aimed at improving Access to water and sanitation, a project supported by United States Agency For International Development USAID in Gwagwada District of Chikun Local Government Kaduna State.

The community leaders Mallam Danlami Galadima and Luka Gadani Lamented that influx of internally displaced persons to Gwagwada communities had resulted to overstretched of necessary facilities and outbreak of diseases within the district.

According to them, the intervention from the foreign donors had brought hope to living standards of the people and will also address their health challenges.

In a speech program Manager of USAID Mrs. Omokide Chikodinaka narrates that an assessment was carried out before the project was executed and called on the communities to secure to facilities.

Program implementor Mr. Jonathan Makan Said Three buildings comprising of 12 Apartments, security lights and 3 solar powered bore holes were constructed for 3 communities in the Gwagwada District.
