Kaduna state government has pledged continuous assistance to women facing different challenges in the State to cushion their plight.

Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe stated this at an event to celebrate International Women Day in Kaduna.

Dr Hadiza revealed that, the selection of the participants from the IDPs was to enable them share their life experiences especially on how conflict and attacks affected them.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba said the gathering was to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and also to strengthening gender equity and accelerating women’s empowerment.

She explained that, the Ministry had firmly established itself through its mandates to address gender inequality, and social protection for women, adolescent girls and children.

Also Speaking, Kaduna State Commissioner of Justice, A’isha Dikko urged women to report cases of women and child right violation to the Ministry for legal action.

In a remark, the Programme Manager USAID/ Nigeria Early Recovery Initiative NERI, Mrs Omokide Chikodi said they are committed in supporting women psychologically who were affected by conflict in communities through their trauma clinics and Psycho Social Support Services.

Some of the participants shared their experiences over the unfortunate incidents which exposed them to the current situation.

They also appealed to government to provide them with more support to cautioned the challenges being encountered as a result of attacks and crises in their localities.

The Programme was organized by USAID/NERI in Collaboration with Kaduna State Ministry of Human Services and Social Development aimed at celebrating the event with IDP’s women from Chikun and Igabi local governments to share their experiences.
