Participants at the Media round table discussion

Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria CS-SUNN, has called on Government and Stakeholders over the rate of Micronutrients Deficiency (MND) as it affects children under the age of 5

Executive Secretary CS-SUNN, Mrs Beatrice Eluaka made this known at a Media round table discussion in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Agriculture held in Kaduna.

Mrs Beatrice Eluaka emphasised the need to promote Nutrition Education in schools and Primary Health Care hospitals to develop children’s health

She appealed to Government to create awareness in media houses in local languages especially for the grassroots on importance of taking Micronutrients substance like iron , vitamin A , iodine and zinc.

Representative from the Ministry of Health Mr John Urakpa, says lack of Micronutrients in the body causes deficiency, and called on parents to give children within the range of 0-5 years foods with fruits and vegetables for good health

Mr John Urakpa emphasised more on food fortification as the best usage for improved nutritional value.

Also from Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Adanlawo Julius called on Government to implement food security, adequate diet supply and increase nutrition in growing children
