Governor Nasiru Elrufai of Kaduna State says the fight against banditry and other crime cannot be done without deploying technology.

He stated this when the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affair Mr Samuel Aruwan took the governor round the almost-completed Command and Control Center for Security Operations in the state.

Governor Elrufai said the project was part of the state Government commitment to use technology in tackling insecurity, stressing that, technology can help security agencies by providing them with relavant information to confront any security challenges.

He expressed happiness with the progress and quality of the work, saying that, CCTV Cameras were deployed all over Kaduna Metropolis connected with optical fibers while drones and other operations would be controlled from the Command and Control Center.

According to the Governor, the Center would not only serve as security personnel to have access of real time videos of what is happening all over Kaduna Metropolis but emergency calls can also come into the center and then security forces would be deploy to respond to any threat.

“I am happy to see the Control Center nearing completion and happy to see that the Technology is working and we would continue to expand to cover Kaduna Metropolis, then we move to Zaria and Kafanchan”

He reaffirmed the commitment of the state government toward supporting security agencies to continue carrying out their duties effectively.

Malam El-Rufai also inspected the Rigasa mass housing project for low income earners and pledged to continue expanding the state for people to have access to new layout.

The governor also inspected the 136-bed Treatment Centre, the Central Market, Marabar Jos, and other ongoing Kaduna State projects within Kaduna Metropolis.
