At least two ultrasound and x-ray laboratory facilities in Kwara state have been sealed off over alleged unprofessional practices.

The officers in the inspection and monitoring unit of the Radiographers Registration board of Nigeria, which paid unscheduled visits to about 20 radiographic outfits in the state capital ,also arrested and handed over two operators of radiographic facilities to the police for prosecution.

Speaking with journalists during the exercise, head, of inspection and monitoring unit of the board, Ebere Onwuegbuchu, said that many of the outfits engage quacks, as diagnostic technicians or student anatomists to operate radiographic machines.

According to him some of the diagnostic outfits did not meet the required standard, while others operate at residential areas which is unsafe to the staff and people around the locations

Onwuegbuchu explained that misleading reports issued by unqualified ultrasound operators may lead to bad treatment.

He however urged Nigerians to ensure radiographic facilities they patronize are manned by qualified and registered radiographers, to prevent the family from ugly consequences of quackery.
