Speaker House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila has reaffirmed the House determination to ensure improved welfare in Programmes related to Nigerian Child.

He stated this at a public hearing on the need to eradicate child destitution and remove beggars from Nigerian streets through provision of standardized education system which took place in Abuja.

Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, who noted that about eleven states were yet to implement the child rights act accented to in 2003, stressed the need for stakeholders to support policies aimed at protecting the interest of Nigerian Children.

He further enjoined Participants at the public hearing to use the opportunity to make relevant contributions that would enable the legislature intervene in tackling the menace of child right abuses in the country.

Earlier, the Chairman House Committee on poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Abubakar Silame, who commended the legislature for supporting poverty alleviation Programmes in the country, confirmed that issues of child rights and street begging will soon be laid to rest.

The Committee Chairman also assured plans to continue to interface with relevant stakeholders on child matters to produce a workable document that will be used in making Nigeria a free child right abuses nation.
