NAF pledges To Upgrade Training Facilities


Nigerian Airforce has expressed commitment to continuously upgrade its training facilities and support efforts at providing realistic and result oriented training.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar gave the assurance at the graduation ceremony of initial officers’ and basic Airmen/Airwomen courses at the Airforce Institute of Technology Kaduna.

Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar explained that the vision of the current Airforce administration was anchored on human capacity development to enhance professional performance by ensuring its personnel have the requisite knowledge and skills to support the forces’ operations.

He maintained that despite the covid-19 pandemic, the institute hasd successfully completed training of 760 personnel, adding that two officer pilots and first female fighter pilot have concluded tactical training on the A jet aircraft.

“Only last week, we witnessed the graduation of Twenty-nine officers who have completed their ab-initio pilot training and supermushak and the DA-forty Aircraft”..he said

“Similarly, last Friday Twenty-four special forces personnel passed out as instructors in Bauchi and the unit also commenced the training of Two hundred and nineteen personnel for regiment training to become special forces.

“Later in the week, we shall witness the graduation of four student pilots that have completed their basic fighter training course in Kano”

The Air Chief noted that despite the completion of these courses amid covid-19 pandemic, it would no doubt have positive impact not only in the operations of the force, but go a long way towards ensuring that the service was positioned into a highly professional and disciplined force.

While urging the graduants to ensure they have the necessary skills to function effectively in their areas of specializations, the Air Chief commended them for their steadfastness, tenacity of purpose and the grit to complete the year long tough and extensive course aim at grounding them to become professionals.

Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his continuous support towards the Airforce and re-affirmed commitment of the force to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians and people in the country.
