Forum Demands CJN Ariwoola To Resign For Being Partisan

Salvage Nigeria Forum has called for the immediate resignation of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola for alledgedly being partisan in the country’s politics.

The forum been a coalition of civil society advocating for good governance made the demand while briefing newsmen in Kaduna

coordinator of the coalition, Abdullahi Idris said the proclamation made by the Chief Judge in which he expressed happiness that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had aligned himself with the G5 Governors led by Wike was partisan and undemocratic

He said, the comment made by the Chief Justice of Nigeria was unethical and unprofessional which had the tendency of creating controversies in the country.

Abdulahi Idris maintained that As a group advocating for good governance, Ariwoola’s comment was an attempt to drag the entire judiciary into partisan politics which is dangerous to our nursing democracy.

He noted that the action was not cautioned by neither the Executive nor Legislative arm of government which should not be the case.

Abdullahi said, the salvage group condemned with all their might any such attempt by the government to condone highly placed judicial officers who abuse the judicial independence which was critical to fairness and impartiality.’

While calling for the immediate resignation of Mr. Ariwoola from the position of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the forum equally demand an unconditional apology from him.

He said the Legislative and Executive arm of government as well as Nigerians should support the clarion call so as to salvage the judiciary as well as restore its integrity and reclaim confidence in the system.
