Ramadan: Yari Donates Food Items To Vulnerables

The former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator-elect, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, has donated 240 trucks of foodstuffs for fasting Muslims in the state as ‘Ramadan Welfare Package’.

The distribution exercise which took place on Sunday in Senator Yari’s hometown, Talata-Mafara local government area was chaired by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who was represented by the APC North East, Zonal Vice Chairman, Alhaji Salihu Mustafa.

The targeted beneficiaries of the food items include the bonafide members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Orphans and other categories of the less privileged groups in the state.

While delivering his address at the occasion, Senator Yari emphasized that he initiated the culture of the distribution of ‘Ramadan Welfare Package’ in order to reduce hardships among people of the state, especially during Ramadan period.

He said, out of the 240 trucks of food items, 140 would be distributed to the 14 local government areas of the state, translating 10 trucks for each LGA.

He added that, 32 trucks are for IDPs, 12 trucks for orphans, 10 trucks for groups and associations and 46 trucks for Islamic scholars and other less privileged among others.

Yari also urged the people of the state to keep praying for the well-being of the state throughout the sacred month of Ramadan.

In his remarks, Governor Bello Matawalle, who was represented by his Deputy, Senator Hassan Nasiha, commended Yari for the gesture.

Gov. Matawalle declared that the gesture was in line with the manifesto of the APC.

“I am appealing to those given responsibility to distribute the items to make sure that it reaches the targeted beneficiaries,” the governor added.

Our reporter gathered that the food items distributed included Rice, Maize, Millet and Sugar.

The occasion was graced by Yari’s political allies from across the country, a mammoth crowd of APC supporters, and teeming journalists from within and outside the state.
