The Proprietor of Muwanshat College of Health Science and Technology Jalingo, Taraba State, Alhaji Umaru Yola has warned the students of the college to desist from any act that would serve as a constraint to their academic performance.

He made the call during the Second Matriculation ceremony of the college held at the college’s premises in Jalingo.

Yola who is also the Managing Director and CEO of Muwanshat International Ventures advised the matriculating students to be determined and focus on their studies.

He informed the gathering that the college currently has courses that comprised Professional Diplomas in health information management system, Pharmacy Technician, community health, and Public health, as well as junior community health.

Alhaji Umaru Yola also explained that the college is also running a Degree program in affiliation with the Taraba State University Jalingo.

He said the Degree course is aimed at enabling the college to produce well-qualified middle-level technical manpower following the policies of the State and Federal Ministries of Health and Education that will facilitate primary health care service delivery at all levels.

The proprietor further revealed that plans are the top gear to bring more courses to the college, as currently, they are in talking terms with the National Board of Technical Education NBTE to secure accreditation.

He advised people who have the passion of establishing a similar private college to follow due process by ensuring that all courses they will be carrying out are accredited.

“Let me advise that such schools should exercise patience and follow due process while processing for their accreditation.

“I don’t usually want to comment on this because someone may think am jealous or something like that, but the truth is that before I established this college I had to follow all the due process and all our courses are accredited.

“It is a welcome development if we will graduate like 70 or 80 students, and someone in Takum will graduate 80 and another person somewhere will do the same thing, you see it is for the good of our people and the state.

“We have a cordial partnership with various health institutions such as the FMC Jalingo, Taraba State Specialist Hospital, Peacock College of Education Jalingo, and even outside the state where we are sending our students to learn somethings.

“So, I will still advise that anybody that has an interest in establishing a similar college like ours should follow such due process so that in the end, the students will not waste their time and resources, because if the courses are not accredited the certificate will not be recognized,” Yola emphasized.

According to him, the achievements recorded could not have been possible without the support of the State Government under the leadership of Governor Darius Ishaku, the Vice Chancellor of Taraba state University, and the Taraba state Ministry of Health.

“I must appreciate the efforts of the Vice Chancellor of Taraba state University, Professor Sunday Bako, Dr. Garba Danjuma, Dr. Aminu Hassan Mafindi, the Caretaker Chairman of Jalingo Local Government, Dr. Bello Ali, Management and Staff of the College among others.

“I want to appreciate the effort of parents and guardians in paying the fees for their children. I also want to thank the students of the College for making the school proud by scoring Eighty out of Hundred percent in their Diploma examination.

Alhaji Umaru Yola, however, identified the lack of resources from parents as the major challenge of the college and urged the parents and guardians to redouble efforts in paying the school fee for their children.

He pointed out that the College has no means of revenue apart from fees paid by students, adding that it is through monies that the College provides services and pays its staff.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University (TSU) Jalingo, Professor Sunday Bako expressed joy for gracing the occasion being the first time since his assumption of office as VC of the TSU.

While commending the Proprietor for his resilience as well as the management and staff of the college, Bako called on the matriculating students to take their studies with seriousness.

“You are here for a serious business, do your best and concentrate on your studies so that you can come out with good results for this will not only promote the College, but also the University.

Prof. Sunday Bako also admonished the students to abide by the rules and regulations of the college and wished them the best as they pursue their academic careers.

Earlier, the Provost of the College, Abdulmajid Khalid enjoined the students to enlist in the College’s noble and character buildings.

“First among its equal, most preferred college of Health Science and Technology that will produce well-trained and high qualify middle health care personnel that will be competitive amidst the competitiveness of the 21st century.

According to him, the college is determined to address the lingering health challenges affecting Sub-Saharan Africa, Nigeria, and Taraba State in particular.

Khalid called on the newly matriculating students to shun examination malpractice, drug abuse, plagiarism, cultism, and other social vices capable of stampeding their walk to success.

He acknowledged the support and commitment of the Proprietor in the areas of creating enabling environment for effective learning as well as the promotion of staff and student welfare.

“Sir, your efforts are well acknowledged not only by the college but by the entire community at large,” the Provost added.
