A professor of economics from Bayero University Kano And the Director of Dangote Business School BUK Murtala Sagagi has called the Kano Business Community to unite and synergize together , with aim of Achieving maximum success in the business sector.
Professor Murtala sagagi disclosed this during the Mercado Business Icon (MBI) Award, organized by Hajiya Aisha Falke, founder of Northern Hibiscus, an online social platform in Nigeria, in collaboration with Wakanow.com and other partners.
Speaking at the event professor murtala sagagi said lack of unity and togetherness among the business community in kano was the reason behind the non-inclusion of business men in the decisions of government .
He noted the business community were being recognized and carried along world wide in the decisions of governance , hence kano business community should not be exceptional.
“I therefore call on the government to reconsider business community and involve them in policy making. We have educated businessmen here. Some have Masters, some PhD, some have BSc, some are Quranic memorisers, among others.”
“If truly you want to succeed like your counterparts in lagos, ogun and other parts of the nation, then you have to be committed and stay united ” Professor Sagagi said
In her remarks, the convener of the Event Aisha Falke said she decided to organize the award event in order to create synergy and unity among business community in the state.
“My reason behind organizing this gathering is networking,i want the small scale business entrepreneurs to network with the consolidated ones so that they can learn, and one day they will become great business people too”
Aisha Falke maintained that part of the programme is the idea of establishing school of practical entrepreneurship study on Kano State, where youths would undergo an eight- month programme in order to be self reliant.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Chairman of the Occasion, Prof. B. Y Abubakar said Mrs Falke has become a lesson to people who think women could not excel in life.
The event was organized to honour business people, who made great contribution to the development of society.
During the events Icons in the business corridors in kano were honoured , which includes Sabiu Bako, Salisu Sambajo, Danlami Alasan, Aminu Ahmed Maiturare, and Namadi Inuwa Gora among others.
