Discipline, Training Key To Effective Combat Operations – COAS

Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahya says capacity building for officers and men of the army is central to ensuring discipline and competency for effective service delivery.

Lt. General Faruk Yahya stated this at the opening of the Second 2022 Regimental training for Sergeant Majors Convention, held at the 8 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters in Sokoto state.

The Army chief who is optimistic that terrorists, bandits and kidnappers will have no hiding place, stressed that the RSMs training is key to achieving professionalism and discipline for combat operations within and outside the country.

He said the training remains one fundamental pillar of his policy drive to improve the operations of the army , considering security challenges bedeviling the socio economic and security development of the country.

Radio Nigeria in Sokoto state report that the Chief of Army staff appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for extending support and reposing confidence on the military.

Declaring the convention open , Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state described the RSMs as the formidable army personnels who ensures discipline and inculcates the army tradition in both commissioned and non commissioned officers.

Tambuwal pledged continuous support of the Nigeria Army with a view to ending the incessant security challenges that shortchanged the socioeconomic and security development of the country.

Earlier in his remarks, the General Officer Commander 8 Division army headquarters Sokoto , Major General Uwem Bassey said RSMs were custodians of regimentation whose role remains pertinent in the Army’s operations.

Bassey who also doubles as Commander, Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji JTF said the convention will help improve their various capacities on regimentation.
