PDP Clarifies Hasty Reschedule Primary After Court Verdict in Kaduna State

The peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna State clarifies that repeat of its primaries for Kaduna Central Senatorial seat followed due process and all contestants were carried along in consideration with prevailing court verdict and the party constitution.

State Chairman of the party Mr. Hassan Hyat said the clarification became necessary to dispel rumor making the rounds that the party rushed into conducting the senatorial primary despite giving forteen days to that effect.

He said although the contenders in the initial primaries conducted in May were given opportunity by the court to settle the issue amicably and the party at the national level invited all major stakeholders who converged for the settlement in Abuja, but to their amazement, the purpoted winner of the first primaries Mr. Lawal Adamu failed to appear.

He said the reschedule election was held a week after the court judgment because Mr. Lawal Adamu could not secure a stay of action at the court and for fear of loosing a candidate in the zone, the party decided to go ahead with the rescheduled primary.

According to Mr. Hassan Hyat, the emergence of a winner at the recent primary election, does not stop any court proceedings and that the court decision will superceed all other processes.

The party chairman therefore called for calm among its members noting that the party at the National and State levels was working together to unite all interested parties towards victory in the 2023 general election.
