Borno Earmarks 1 Billion Naira For Compensation

Borno state government has earmarked over one billion naira for the payment of compensation for the ongoing infrastructural projects in Maiduguri and environs. 

Executive Secretary Borno Geographic Information Service BOGIS Alhaji Adam Bababe made this known at a media briefing in Maiduguri. 

Alhaji Bababe said a high powered committee had been set up to value all the properties that would be affected.

The Executive Secretary also announced that the Agency has generated one billion naira in 2021 as against four hundred and thirty six million in the preceding year.

According to him, BOGIS is able to scale its revenue drive due to increase payment of ground rent, automation of all land transactions thereby blocking leakages.

In an effort to address housing deficit in the metropolis, Alhaji Adam Bababe said government has allocated hecters of land for 4 private estate developers for the construction of two thousand units of houses.

He remarked that Borno state is not considering carving additional layouts as the existing ones have not been developed. 

The Executive Secretary of BOGIS expressed commitment of the Agency to improve matters of land administration in urban settlement and root out all forms of land racketeering in the state.
