One person has been killed and another critically injured while an unspecified number of conventional Islamiyya students have been abducted by some gunmen at Tegina, Rafi local government council of Niger State.

A police station was also attacked at Tegina during the operation with no official report of any casualty.

Though the number of students abducted from Salihu Tanko Islamiyya school is yet to be confirmed, the little children among the kidnapped were released by their captors.

Secretary to the Niger State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview said they were yet to ascertain the exact number of students abducted.

Director General Niger State Emergency Management Agency Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Inga has denied viral report stating that 200 Islamiyya school students were abducted at Kagara noting that, they could not ascertain the actual number of abducted students and their teachers.

Chairman Rafi local government council Alh Ismaila Modibbi who said the gunmen came on twenty five motorcycles to execute the unfortunate incident however added that the gunmen also killed a commercial motorcycle operator (Okada rider) and went away with his motorcycle.

Meanwhile Niger state police command through its Public Relations Officer DSP Wasiu Abiodun said it had mobilised all tactical team including operation puff 2 to the location to ensure that the children are rescued unharmed.
