The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Abbas Tajudeen, says the essence of governance is to meet the people’s basic needs in education, healthcare and public safety.
He stated this in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State during the groundbreaking and commissioning of several constituency projects.
Dr Abbas said every child in a public primary school deserves a conducive learning environment, while residents seeking medical attention should have access to quality healthcare without travelling long distances.
He also stressed the need to provide young people with opportunities to acquire education and relevant qualifications.
According to him, the proposed ten-classroom block, with offices and toilets, at Sa’idu Primary School will provide pupils with a more suitable environment for learning.
The Speaker added that the new secondary school, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Study Centre and Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre would expand access to education and equip young people to compete in an increasingly digital world.
On healthcare, he said the proposed 20-bed Primary Healthcare Centre and diagnostic centre must be equipped and staffed with qualified personnel, stressing that completed facilities would serve little purpose without the necessary equipment and healthcare workers.

Dr Abbas also said the new police station and area command would strengthen security and improve response to emergencies.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and state governors for their efforts towards establishing state police.
In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Abdulkadir Mu’azu Meyere, commended the Speaker for attracting development projects to the eight local government areas in Zone One of Kaduna State.
He, however, urged residents of Sabon Gari to support the APC in the forthcoming elections.
Similarly, the APC senatorial candidate for for the Zone and former governor of the state, Dr Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, called on residents to ensure the party’s victory in the forthcoming elections.
The event was attended by APC chieftains, traditional rulers and a large number of supporters.
