The Kwara State Fire Service has prevented a fire outbreak at Kangile Village in Ilorin South Local Government Area from spreading to neighbouring buildings.

In a statement, the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Hassan, said firefighters received a distress call and arrived at the scene at 8:09 p.m. to find a three-bedroom flat engulfed in flames.

He explained that the fire had spread throughout the building before firefighters were notified, making it difficult to save the property. However, their intervention prevented the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.

The statement added that the cause of the fire had not been established, as investigations were ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The State Chief Fire Officer, Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to report fire outbreaks immediately after discovering them to enable firefighters to respond promptly and minimise damage.

He also advised residents to observe fire safety measures, ensure proper maintenance of electrical installations and remain vigilant against potential fire hazards in their homes.
