Ahead of the 2027 general elections, broadcasters have been urged to exercise caution in their campaign coverage.

The newly appointed Zonal Director of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Kaduna Zone, Adamu Salisu, stated this during a familiarisation visit to Radio Nigeria Kaduna.

Adamu Salisu, who was accompanied by the Head of Monitoring, Sarah Gambo-Nmadu, and the Head of Administration, Abubakar Daniya, said broadcasters should revisit the professional requirements of the profession through the NBC Code.

He urged broadcast stations to deploy effective control mechanisms to avoid being found wanting.

The new NBC Zonal Director, who acknowledged Radio Nigeria Kaduna as a pioneer broadcasting station in the North, however, urged the station to double its efforts to avoid mistakes.

Responding, the Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria Kaduna, Mohammed Aminu Abdullahi Gombi, assured that the station has proper internal control mechanisms to regulate what goes on air.

He also called for the sensitisation of religious leaders on the NBC Code.

Aminu Abdullahi Gombi maintained that the station is ever ready and committed to abiding by broadcasting rules, in line with its pacesetter status.
