Zamfara State Governor, Dr Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Aminu Atiku as the new Emir of Zurmi Emirate Council.
The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, announced the appointment, saying it followed consultations and the recommendation of the Zurmi Emirate Council Kingmakers, in line with the state’s traditions, customs and relevant laws.
According to a statement issued by the SSG’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sulaiman Ahmad Tudu, the new monarch becomes the 21st Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi.
He succeeds Alhaji Bello Suleiman, who died on August 31, 2026.
Alhaji Aminu Atiku, the traditional title holder of Dangaladiman Zurmi, is the eldest son of the late Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who was the 19th Emir of Zurmi.
The new Emir also previously served as the Sole Administrator of Zurmi Local Government Council.
Governor Lawal congratulated the new monarch and urged him to uphold the legacy of his predecessors by promoting peace, justice, unity and the welfare of the people.
He also called on the Emir to strengthen peaceful coexistence among communities in the emirate and collaborate with the government and security agencies to improve peace and security.
The governor assured the new Emir of the state government’s support, expressing confidence that his reign would contribute to the peace, stability and development of Zurmi Emirate and Zamfara State.I can also make it shorter for radio news, or translate it into Hausa in a broadcast-friendly style.
