The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has conducted a post-funding verification exercise at Bebeji General Hospital to assess the implementation and impact of two key healthcare interventions executed under its 2026 Regular Interventions Programme.

The verification exercise was led by the Director of Special Duties, Hamisu Abubakar, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahradeen.

The projects inspected include the installation of a solar power system valued at ₦69,739,240 and the procurement of essential medical equipment worth ₦14,496,231, bringing the total value of the interventions to ₦84,235,471. The funds for both projects were disbursed on April 14, 2026.

Speaking during the exercise, Hamisu Abubakar said the verification was part of KHETFUND’s commitment to ensuring that public funds are judiciously utilized and that all funded interventions are implemented in accordance with approved specifications and required standards.

He explained that the post-funding verification serves as a key accountability mechanism for assessing project implementation, promoting transparency, and ensuring that investments deliver the intended benefits to healthcare facilities and the communities they serve.

According to him, the solar power installation is expected to provide a reliable and sustainable electricity supply for uninterrupted healthcare services, while the newly procured medical equipment will enhance the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment capacity, leading to improved quality of patient care.

The management of Bebeji General Hospital expressed appreciation to KHETFUND for the interventions, describing them as timely investments that have significantly improved service delivery at the facility. The management also pledged to properly maintain the equipment and ensure the prudent use of the resources for the benefit of patients.
