Jigawa State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government has embarked on a three-day working visit to Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area.
The Chairman of the Committee and member representing Gwiwa Constituency, Alhaji Aminu Zakari, said the visit is part of the Assembly’s annual oversight function to inspect and assess the administrative and financial performance of local government councils for improved service delivery.
He said the committee will inspect quarterly progress report, executive and legislative meeting minutes, payment vouchers and disbursement from national allocation among others.
Alhaji Aminu Zakari explained that the committee will also constitute sub-committees that will inspect projects at sites to ensure quality and maximization of benefit in public spending.
He added that at the end of the visit the committee will provide correction and recommendation that may guide the local government council towards achieving its mandate.
In a welcome address, the Chairman of Sule Tankarkar Local Government Council Malam Tasi’u Adamu, expressed the believe that the annual oversight visit of the House of Assembly is a source of guidance on administrative and financial matters to them.
He prayed for this years’ visit to impact positively on the development process of the area as it did the previous year.
